How to back up and transfer files to new system
- - You will need an external device like a thumb drive or external hard drive, plug it into your computer (‘old’ computer if following for a transfer)
- Boundless does sell external devices. If one is needed, please call the sales team.
- - Open File Explorer (file folder icon in taskbar, or hit the Windows/Start button and start typing ‘file explorer’)
- - Copy files you want to transfer into the external device. The device will be listed towards the bottom of the menu/list on the left in File Explorer. There are two ways to do this:
- Click to highlight existing file or folder, right click to open a dropdown menu, choose copy. Open external device and paste.
- Drag and Drop files and folders directly into the external device icon. This option REMOVES the original files and no copies will be left on the computer.
- - If transferring files, plug external device into the new computer. You can use the same steps above to move the files from the external device to the new computer.
