Checking for Windows updates
How to check for System Updates on your Windows computer
- Locate the Start (windows) menu
- Locate the 'Settings Menu', the cog symbol above the Power button
- Choose 'Update and Security: windows update, recovery, and backup' from the menu. It will be the last option.
- Click 'Check for Updates' button towards top of screen. There may also be an option that is below the button that says 'Download and Install'. It will be in small blue font and underlined. Chosing the button or the link should render the same.
- The computer will alert you if a restart is needed to finish the process.
To be sure all updates have come through, you may need to check more than once as some updates cannot be received until the previous ones are completed.
You will know you are done when nothing new comes up after clicking “Check for Updates”
